Lions Defeat CCNY, with Yale and NYU Next!
Dear Columbia Men’s Lacrosse alumni and friends,
Thank you again for your support of our team! Make It 8 congratulates the current Columbia Men's Lacrosse club on its first victory this season, a 10-6 triumph over the Beavers of City College of New York at Wien Stadium last Sunday night! Jake Bernstein '24 led the offensive attack with five goals and was supported by additional goals from Jordan Naidus '24 and Sam Lavine '23. Goaltender Florian Carter '24 (above) made his Columbia and organized lacrosse debuts in the contest, turning away a dozen CCNY shots and anchoring a stout defensive effort! The combined teamwork silenced a visiting CCNY fan contingent that included a bass drummer!`
Last Sunday was only the beginning of what is shaping up to be the most exciting month of April ever for our team! This Saturday the Lions will host a historic doubleheader against two ancient rivals. Game 1 begins at 1 PM against Yale, the first contest in the First Annual Ivy Club Lacrosse Championship presented by Make It 8! The Lions will look to make it seven wins in a row over the Bulldogs dating back to 2001 in this contest; a victory will also advance them to the semifinal round to face the winner of fellow Ancient Eight peers Penn and Princeton!
After a interlude for the two opponents to play each other the Lions will then return to the field at 3 PM to take on their first-ever rival, the NYU Violets! In the latest edition of a rivalry dating to 1881 the Lions will look to avenge an overtime defeat in the final game of last season. Head Coach Austin Scronce '22, Assistant Coach Ryan Friedman, and captain Jake Bernstein '24 will lead the charge against these two rivals! We hope you can join them and us at Wien Stadium to cheer them on!

Make It 8 is proud to promote competition among the Ivy lacrosse programs, varsity or club, and the old city rivals who have enriched the games for our program over the years! We stand committed to making another tournament, one broadcast on ESPN the first weekend of May, an event hosted by a home team in New York City. Perhaps one in which the Make It 8 Founders' Cup (front on the left, back on the right below) is awarded to the best of eight Ivy teams. Donate here: Make It 8 2023 Season Campaign
Thank you again for your support!
