Giving Tuesday Faces Off!

Dear Columbia Men’s Lacrosse alumni and friends,

Thank you again for your support of our team! Your Lions have concluded their fall season as one of the four best Ivy club teams and are looking for more in spring 2024!  The Lions gave it all they had in the Ivy Club Lacrosse Championship presented by Make It 8 on Sunday, November, 12.   John Drotos CC '25 got the Lions on the board in the semifinal against Penn with his first of six goals on the day (pictured above).

With 16 saves, including a number of point-blank stops, from Lou Cessarato TC '24 (pictured above) the Lions would stay with Penn deep into the second half before falling to the Quakers 11-3. The Lions would rebound in the second game of the day against Yale behind five goals from John Drotos and two more from Jake Bernstein CC '24 to defeat the Bulldogs 9-7. Penn would defeat Brown 8-3 in the final game of the day to claim the 2023 Make It 8 Founders' Cup.

Make It 8 is proud to have awarded the Founders' Cup for the first time this year and looks forward to the second edition of the tournament in 2024!  The 2024 tournament will feature a round-robin stage with Columbia facing Penn, Princeton and Cornell with a chance to qualify to a final four tournament against the New England Ivy schools for the trophy!  We at Make It 8 sincerely thank you for your past efforts to support us as your gifts make events like the Founders' Cup possible.  To support this event, your Lions' efforts to bring the trophy home to Columbia, and our plans to create an eventual eighth Ivy varsity program in Morningside Heights by the end of the 2020s, donate here this Tuesday, November 28!: Make It 8 2023 Giving Tuesday Campaign.

Thank you again for your support!

Sincerely,

The Make It 8 Board
